Dental Cleanings

Dental cleanings aim to remove any accumulation of plaque and calculus (tartar) on the teeth. The goals of dental cleanings are to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, both of which are due to bacteria in the oral cavity.

An exam is usually in done in conjunction with a dental cleaning to detect the presence of cavities, gum disease, and other oral problems or concerns. Any modifications to your homecare techniques will also be discussed (i.e. tooth brushing and flossing technique)

Your dental cleaning may be performed by the dentist or dental hygienist.
